THINKING ABOUT TRAVELING WITH YOUR DOG?

Twelve of our resort cabins welcome dogs! (Please, no cats or other animals). If you're considering a trip with your dog, we encourage you to review our pet policy below. Continue scrolling for additional details on pet-friendly activities, doggie daycare, and more!

NORTH FORTY Resort Pet Policy:

Adult dogs only. No cats or other animals.

Dogs are allowed in the Aspen and Ponderosa cabins only and must not go in cabins other than the one they were declared in.

If you must leave your pet alone in the cabin, we kindly request that they are kenneled while unattended.

Your pet must be at least one year old and housebroken.

A one time, non-refundable fee will be charged of $50 dollars.

Pets are permitted on the furniture as long as pet covers are provided. If your cabin lacks pet covers, kindly notify the front desk so we can supply them to you.

Please keep your dog on a leash at all times when outside. Never leave your dog tied up outside or left alone on the deck.

You agree to pick up after your pet and dispose of waste properly.

Pets must not disturb the peace of the resort, barking or howling will not be tolerated.

You are responsible for ANY pet damage. Should there be any damage, it must be reported DURING your stay, so we can promptly schedule repairs. If your pet causes damage, you agree to pay for repairs. Pet damage is NOT covered by the pet fee .

No bathing the pets in the showers and bathtubs in the house or using guest towels for wiping them down.

All items above are the sole responsibility of the pet owner. The cabin owners assume no responsibility or illness or injury that may incur to pets or humans while on the premises.

If you or any of your guests bring pets without prior approval the pet fee will be $250 and same rules apply.

Dog Friendly Hiking

Whitefish Trails: The Whitefish Trails System offers tons of options for both hiking and nordic skiing in winter. These trails are dog friendly, so a great option if you like to hike with your dog. Just remember to clean up after your dog and bring extra water! You can check out the map here: Whitefish Trails Map

Herron Park: Herron park is great for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding and is dog friendly. Just make sure to keep your dog on a leash and be cognizant of horses. See more info here: Herron Park Maps

Jewel Basin: Jewel Basin is another beautiful hiking spot with gorgeous views that also allows leashed dogs on the trail. You can check out more info here: Jewel Basin Trails

Pets are allowed in developed areas such as: in your cars while driving park roads, frontcountry campgrounds, picnic areas, along roads when you are stopped, in parking areas, and in boats on lakes where motorized watercraft are permitted.

Pets are not permitted on trails, along lake shores outside of developed locations, in the backcountry, or in any building.

Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet (1.8 m), under physical restraint, or caged at all times, including while in open-bed pickup trucks.

Pets are not to be left tied to an object when unattended.

Pet owners must pick up after their pets and dispose of waste in a trash receptacle. Owners must not allow a pet to make noise that is unreasonable. When the bike path between Apgar and West Glacier is free of snow dogs are allowed on leash.

When roads are closed to vehicle traffic, they are considered a backcountry trail and dogs are not allowed.

Doggie Daycare

Three Dog Ranch

Three Dog Ranch is a dog boarding facility that is less than 2 miles up the road that offers dog daycare “playcare”. This is a good option if you are planning a long day that is not pet friendly. We recommend calling and making arrangements in advance.

Whitefish Dog Park
