Wedding Bells

Having a destination wedding is a great way to celebrate your love in an intimate and special way. It allows your wedding to become unique to the two of you with the added bonus of incorporating your honeymoon!

The opportunity to celebrate your wedding your way can allow either an intimate getaway for just the two of you, or make it a full-fledged vacation to enjoy with family and friends. Destination weddings eliminate a lot of stress in arranging a big wedding, but it also requires a bit of extra planning. Choosing your location, venue, hotel or resort stays as well as things to do are just a few things to consider while planning your dream wedding.

Choose your location based on what is unique for the two of you. Is there a location that holds a special place in your hearts? Or perhaps there are a few bucket list locations that you have always wanted to visit. Wherever you decide, make sure to keep in mind the tourism season, weather and price points for guests.

If you plan to invite family and friends, be sure to get your invites out at least 8-12 months ahead to allow your guests plenty of time to make their travel plans. Having a block of rooms available at a resort or hotel is also helpful.

Consider hiring a planner local to the area. This can be very helpful in securing a venue, lodging as well as other vendors. A planner can also help navigate the details with local regulations, licensing and other things that might fall through the cracks.

Lastly, don’t forget to have things to do! Whether you are traveling alone or with your crew, make sure to have fun and schedule activities and outings so you can make the most of your destination wedding! Keep in mind the time of year and local tourism when planning your activities. If you are traveling in the off season, some of the popular hotspots might be closed, or if it is high season in a popular tourist location, a lot of places may be crowed, overbooked and you will most likely be paying premium prices.
