FALL IN THE FLATHEAD

With the summer season ending and the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park closing on October 1st, the most common questions we are being asked is “What is there to do in the Flathead?”

My answer? LOTS OF STUFF!

Glacier Park might be winding down, but a lot of other things are just getting started.
Hiking is always a popular choice regardless of the season, but especially in the Fall; the outdoor colors are spectacular, the trails less crowded and the weather perfect for a long day hike. Did you know that the Larch tree is the only deciduous pine tree? You will be able to spot them during your hike because their needles turn a golden yellow and will drop their needles.
Outside of Glacier, the Flathead Valley is full of hiking trails to fit any fitness level. Alltrails.com is a great reference to find trails in areas you want to explore and suited to your fitness level.
If you are looking to explore but hiking isn’t quite your thing, how about booking an ATV or horseback riding tour? You get the same benefits of seeing the rustic autumn beauty of the Flathead Valley without having to get into shape to do it!
